Benefits:
Industrialization is central to economic development and improved
prospects for human well-being. But in the absence of proper abatement
technology, industry has become a major source of air, water, soil
and hazardous waste pollution. The public, and in particular industrial
workers are often at highest risk of health impacts.
In 1989 alone, EPA
estimates, in its Toxic Release Inventory National Report, that
1.9 billion pounds of chemical were dumped into water systems. In
that same year, 2.4 billion pounds of chemicals were released into
the atmosphere; with the total chemical attack on the environment
estimated at 5.7 billion pounds. How are the effects of these toxins
manifested in the body and mind? It is estimated that 60 to 80 percent
of all cancers are a direct result of chemicals in our air, water
and food. Further, neuroscientists are now studying the role of
environmental toxins in the development of neurological disorders
such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, and in mental/behavioral
disorders such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and attention
deficit disorder.
Toxins that directly
affect the nervous system are called neurotoxins. Since the nervous
system is intricately connected to the immune system, neurotoxins
also affect our immune functions. Thus, our very ability to think
and feel normally can be drastically affected by exposure to toxins.
Here is just a partial
list of common sub-clinical symptoms of toxicity: fatigue, lethargy,
depression, headaches, allergies, chronic infection, frequent colds,
nervousness, sudden anger, sensitivity to perfume/odors, memory
loss and joint pains. Because so many of these symptoms could stem
from a multitude of other causes, often toxicity is not readily
suspected. With continued exposure, neurotoxins may trigger the
expression of a disease for which one has a genetic predisposition.
In general, it is thought that toxins pose the most dangerous risk
for our children.
The link between
toxins and the health conditions related to toxins are Free Radicals.
Free radicals are unstable molecules. They often contain oxygen.
They are unstable because they have only one electron and they desperately
want two to make them stable. To get another electron they rob one
from anything they can. Healthy cells in our bodies are a good mark
for them. They do this relentlessly and very quickly, and can cause
a lot of damage. It is estimated that our DNA receives about 10,000
"hits" from free radicals every day. One of the major sources of
free radicals is: environmental toxins, as well as high demand life
style, poor diet, and intense physical activity.
People are continuously
subjected to many things that increase the level of free radicals
in their bodies and so the body can easily become overpopulated
with oxygen-derived species that upset cell biochemistry. This imbalance
of free radicals in the body is called oxidative stress.
So what can be done?
The answer: lots! We can take constructive action by becoming better
informed about what these toxins are and where they come from. We
can learn how to reduce and eliminate one's exposure to the toxins
in the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat. Some
of these actions are simple, some more complicated.
One easy way to reduce
the effects of free radicals is to increase the nutrients in our
diet that counteract cell damage caused by free radicals. Antioxidants
protect against oxidation. Antioxidants sacrifice themselves to
the free radical and thereby protect our bodies' cells from free
radical damage.
Some antioxidants
are found in our diet: beta- carotene, vitamin E, minerals such
as Zinc and Selenium. Other powerful antioxidants also include Coenzyme
Q-10, Grape Seed Extract, Pycnogenol™ (Pine Bark Extract) and Green
Tea Extract.
Antioxidants can
affect metabolic processes with consequent changes in physical,
emotional or physiological state. People who supplement their diet
with antioxidants comment on their increased alertness, improved
skin condition, less flu and colds, faster recovery from soft tissue
damage, improvement in joint movements or increased ability to cope
with stress. These may be the more compelling reason for taking
a powerful antioxidant.
Syngenic™
Defense provides one of the most powerful combinations of a broad
spectrum of antioxidants that work synergistically to help the body
combat the detrimental effect from environmental toxins.
Syngenic™Defense
is a clear solution, which can be absorbed and assimilated by the
body at a much higher rate compare to tablets and capsules.
This delicious
